Simple Things Digest

Dear Reader,

We need to replace what we've settled for with what we've been longing for. ~Bob Goff

Little did I realize when I first read this quote, that the cracks in my carefully constructed life would soon start to cave, unable to keep up the pretense of safety and security.

Almost every area of my life has been dismantled. Instead of trying to pick up the pieces, I'm being called to build something new, something different.

During this transition, I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is I long for. I know what I think I've always longed for, but all of it has to come under examination.

In the meantime, I've taken on a (very) small copywriting job. I thought taking on this role would be a relatively easy adjustment. But, that hasn't been the case. It's taken me much longer than it normally would to catch on to the nuances of what's expected. And, it takes me entirely too long to write just one article. I am, however, trying to practice grace with myself, knowing our brains just don't function at the same speed or capacity when we're in the midst of a difficult season.

I'm also actively looking for more full-time work, or trying to create a full-time income. (I prefer the latter.) My goal is to continue to grow this newsletter and turn it into a viable income stream while continuing the copywriting gig and picking up other part-time work.

I interviewed for a home staging and interior design company a few weeks ago. I was under the impression I was going to get a second interview, but haven't heart back yet. I sent a follow up email last week, but didn't get a reply. I'm hoping they're just busy.

Being in the middle of the unknown is hard. My chest hurts with anxiety more often than not. I cry a lot. Thankfully, I'm sleeping well. And there have been moments, even hours, of feeling more hopeful than burdened.

I will continue to keep you posted.

Can I ask a favor? Hit forward and send this email to a friend who craves simplicity and ease in her heart and home.

Spring Things

Spring is definitely in the air. Pollen is everywhere! The temperatures are downright toasty. And the trees are in full bloom.

Spring tends to usher in a seasons of moving, baby showers and baby arrivals, weddings, and Spring cleaning. With that in mind, I've rounded up a few helpful articles from the blog and around the internet to help you make the most of the season.

How I can help.

  • Spring Cleaning Must-Have. If you need to give your home a good cleaning and a Spring refresh, pick up a copy of my best-selling book, Home on Purpose: Mindful Living in a Hectic World. It walks you through the process from cleaning to decluttering and organizing to styling your home. It's like getting a professional organizer for the price of a paperback. (Or for free if you have Kindle Unlimited.)
  • Stuck on an organizing project? Or can't quite figure out what's "off" about a room or space? I'm opening two spots for space planning/organizing (virtual or in person, depending on your location). Reply to this email to grab your spot.
  • Looking for a speaker? If your group or organization is looking for a speaker, I'd love to be considered. I've been speaking for over twenty years, delivering everything from the keynote speech to break out sessions in settings ranging from churches to conferences. Contact me at sharon@sharonehines.com
